They Offered Themselves

The phrase offered themselves and a commitment to God have largely been omitted from preaching and teaching in our time. Offering ourselves to God is not considered a necessity in many churches. Receiving Christ without giving oneself to Him is a false profession of faith. Receiving Him is receiving His power and authority or it is not receiving Him at all. We must receive Him on His terms.

Judges 5:2: Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

Judges 5:9: My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD.

Nehemiah 11:2: And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

Isaiah 6:8: Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Acts 6:4: But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

2 Corinthians 12:14: Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 6:19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God*s. 23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

Exodus 21:1: Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them. 2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. 3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. 4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master*s, and he shall go out by himself. 5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free: 6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

1 Peter 4:11: If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Colossians 1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Offering ourselves to the Lord often and continually would be wise.
